The Trio Dances usually occur during the quarterfinals or the semifinals of Dancing with the Stars. A professional dancer whose celebrity partner has been eliminated or a member of the troupe will dance with the celebrity and their partner. This was introduced in Season 14.
For Season 25, a former celebrity champion or runner up danced with the celebrity and their partner.
For Season 27, the round occurred in week 4 and either a former champion, runner up, or personal acquaintance danced with the celebrity and their partner.
